Information and Research Center Embarks on National Youth Survey
26th September 2012

September 26, 2012 –
The Information and Research Center (IRC) has been selected by UNICEF and the National Youth Survey Committee to provide technical support to the second national youth survey in Jordan.
The objective of this survey is to update available data on youth ages 10-to-24, along with information on their priorities and aspirations, with a focus on addressing gaps of knowledge on youth issues.
This was a competitive selection process involving a thorough assessment of numerous proposals submitted by international and national research organizations.  The IRC was awarded the 10-month project based on the IRC's extensive research experience on studies related to youth using creative and ethical methodologies.
Other significant developments this fall include Save the Children International awarding the IRC a 4-month research project on home bound girls in Jordan (school age girls forced to stay at home to carry out domestic chores.)  The IRC has been entrusted to investigate and to shed light on the issue in Jordan.
The IRC was launched in 1996 as part of the National Task Force for Children. The IRC promotes the welfare of children, youth, women and families by providing objective, multidisciplinary research and analysis to practitioners and policy makers, enabling effective socioeconomic planning and decision making.
