Jubilee School to host Second Annual Math Day for Students in Jordan
28th November 2012

November 28, 2012 – On Saturday, December 1 the Jubilee School will be hosting its second annual “Math Day” organized by the Jubilee Center for Excellence in Education (JCEE) and the math department in the Jubilee School.

The all day event, held from 9am until 4pm in the classrooms of the Jubilee School, will feature workshops for students 6-to-17 years of age.

There will also be team competitions and individual competitions, with all participants receiving medals and certificates.

The all day event is open to the public and the cost for participation in the workshops and competition is 2 JDS with parents and supervisors admitted at no charge.

So far organizers expect 500 students from 22 schools in Amman, Salt, and Karak to attend.

The overall goal of the event, in only its second year, is to encourage young people to enjoy mathematics by familiarizing themselves with the subject through programs which teach the basic principals in a fun learning environment.

The JCEE was founded in 1998 to focus on the use of advanced educational technology to develop innovative curricula and interactive training programs for students, teachers, and administrators in Jordan.

To date, thousands of students and teachers from different schools in Jordan and in other Arab countries have been trained in the use of information technology in education, robotics, AfterSchool KidzScience, design and technology and the ‘Great Explorations in Math and Science’ (GEMS) program.

Saturday’s workshops will include activities from GEMS along with the Math and Chess program and After School KidzMath.
