Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein inaugurated the first business development incubator in Ajloun, undertaken by the Community Development Program (CDP) of the Noor Al Hussein Foundation (NHF) in partnership with the Local Development Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. Ajloun incubator, which proceeds the establishment of another similar incubator in Tafileh, is part of the “Promoting Local Economic Development in Jordan" (PLEDJ) program funded by the European Union.
Under this program, entrepreneurs and community based organizations seeking to establish and develop existing business initiatives in the tourism and food processing industries in Ajloun and Tafileh, will be able to access comprehensive business development and mentorship services throughout the coming two years.
During the inauguration of Ajloun Business Development Incubator, Dr. Raed Al Adwan, the Local Development Directorate Governor of the Ministry Of Interior, highlighted the pivotal role of the Directorate in enhancing economic development of the community. He also outlined the vision and five year strategy of PLEDJ program.
Her Excellency Dr. Joanna Wronecka, Ambassador of the European Union to Jordan, underlined the importance of public, private and civil society involvement in identifying economic development opportunities at the local level. "I would like to encourage the Ajloun community to engage with the incubator in developing their ideas and their innovative spirit" she added.
Her Majesty Queen Noor engaged in a training session alongside 15 of Ajloun’s Local Development Department staff, and congratulated them on becoming stimulating agents for economic development within their communities.
Mr. Muhammad Zoubi, the Director of the Community Development Program, briefed the participants on the incubators' strategies, noting that the Ajloun Business Development Incubator establishment follows the two successful models operating in Aqaba and Irbid which have contributed to creating hundreds of job opportunities and encouraging innovative entrepreneurship.
The launch was also attended by Mr. Abdullah Al Khatab, Ajloun Governor, Dr. Nabil Al Qudah Head of Ajloun Municipality, and Ms. Hana Mitri Shahin, Executive Director of the King Hussein Foundation.
