KHF Outreach
King Hussein Foundation committed to empowering Teachers
5th October 2015

Amman, Jordan… The King Hussein Foundation (KHF) has always been dedicated to setting a standard of educational excellence in Jordan and beyond. Through the Jubilee Institute – the Jubilee School and the Jubilee Center for Excellence in Education (JCEE) – KHF has worked to sustain and build upon the late King Hussein’s lifelong commitment to peace and sustainable development through programs that promote education and leadership, sustainable development, women and girls empowerment, participatory decision making,  and cross-cultural understanding

In its mission to empower teachers, the JCEE adopted the GEMS training program, a leading resource for innovative science and mathematics education, and the first such initiative in the Arab World. Over 70 GEMS teacher guides and handbooks offer a wide range of supplementary learning experiences for preschool through 9th grade. GEMS activities engage students in direct experience and experimentation to introduce essential principles and concepts. GEMS was developed by the Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California, Berkely, for which JCEE is the official partner and distributer in Jordan and the Arab region.

Continuing investment in professional development, JCEE introduced the Diploma in Excellence in Education, an intensive training program, fully accredited by the International Centre for Innovation in Education (ICIE), designed to raise the profile of the teaching profession locally and improve teachers’ performance to the highest possible international standard. The program brought together respected international experts and instructors from renowned universities like L'Université Paris Descartes and the University of Winnipeg, among others, to offer an innovative and academically rigorous experience from the finest educational institutions across the world.Register now.

A testament to its growth and commitment to advanced educational technology, JCEE recently received accreditation in the education of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The Center obtained the accreditation after conducting professional training for all staff, introducing the latest in STEM pedagogy, curriculum and infrastructure to public and private school teachers.

This World Teacher’s Day, KHF, and the Jubilee Institute continue to commit to, and believe in, the power of education to shape the future and build sustainable societies.
