Wednesday, 8th of April – The Information and Research Center (IRCKHF) organized the National Moot Court Competition, bringing together ten of Jordan’s leading law faculties, alongside a student team from the Jubilee School, in a dynamic, practice-driven initiative focused on one of today’s most pressing legal challenges: cybercrime.
Held under the patronage of the Minister of Justice, with SECDIV Canada support, the competition engaged participants from the University of Jordan, Mutah University, Yarmouk University, Al al-Bayt University, Amman Arab University, Philadelphia University, Middle East University, The Islamic Sciences University of Jordan, Zarqa University, and Isra University, in addition to a participating team from the Jubilee School.
At the core of the competition is a simulated case based on Jordan’s Cybercrime Law No. (17) of 2023, addressing complex and timely issues such as digital impersonation, online defamation, privacy violations, unauthorized access, and the evidentiary value of digital proof.
Participants took part in immersive courtroom simulations, working through a detailed case file involving fraudulent social media accounts, online threats, and contested digital evidence. This hands-on experience allows students to strengthen their advocacy, legal reasoning, and litigation skills within a realistic judicial environment.
By bridging academic learning with real-world legal practice, the initiative equips future legal professionals with the competencies needed to navigate the evolving digital landscape and respond to emerging cyber threats with rigor and professionalism.
Further details on the competition’s phases and outcomes will be announced in due course.
