BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 15, 2024 — The King Hussein Foundation amplifies its efforts in building community's resilience by being one of the first three signatories of the Arab Philanthropy Commitment on Climate Change (APCCC), launched at COP29. This regional commitment, introduced by the Arab Foundations Forum (AFF), unites Arab philanthropic organizations in addressing climate injustice from a uniquely regional perspective.
The APCCC represents the first coordinated regional climate response from the Arab world, a region disproportionately impacted by climate change. With rising temperatures nearly double the global average, communities across the region face critical threats, including desertification, displacement, and food insecurity. Through this pioneering initiative, KHF joins other leading organizations to mobilize resources and drive collaborative action that fosters resilience, dignity, and accessibility for all.
Structured around seven pillars—Education and Empowerment, Commitment of Resources, Integration, Endowments and Assets, Operations, Advocacy and Policy Change, and Transparency and Accountability—the APCCC allows each organization to adopt these principles based on their unique resources and capacities.
This initiative, in collaboration with WINGS, the global Philanthropy For Climate movement and support by Ford Foundation, promotes localized solutions to global challenges, drives just and equitable philanthropic action and strengthen Arab philanthropy role in the global movement towards resilience and justice, alongside over 800 foundations worldwide.
