Study published by Information and Research Center Finds Gender
Inequality Persists in Jordan

The Information and Research Center - King Hussein Foundation (IRCKHF),
in partnership with the United Nations Gender and Women's
Empowerment (UNIDO), and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Jordan, launched a study entitled "Gender Discrimination and Inequality in Jordan".

Based on a comprehensive review of previous literature and legislation, and interviews with key experts, the study seeks to understand the nature, extent and root causes of the persistence of gender inequality in Jordan, focusing on key social and economic dynamics and legislative barriers to women's empowerment. As a result of this analysis, the study presents a range of policy recommendations to decision-makers, legislators, civil society, and other relevant stakeholders. Among the study's recommendations is a comprehensive review of national legislation to ensure their consistency with Jordan's international commitments on women's empowerment and support for the principles of gender equality, in addition to reviewing national educational curricula, and elimination of gender stereotypes.
